Wedged between the bustling Third Ward and the Summerfest grounds is a
zone that has undergone rapid development over the past decade. Row
after row of geometric, multistory apartments give the district a
slightly eerie edge suggesting the paintings of Chirico. One comfort
spot amid the development is Brew City Tea. Tasteful and small (but with ample legroom between its
handful of tables), the tearoom offers an array of sandwiches along
with 80 varieties of loose-leaf tea, neatly shelved in airtight metal
canisters. The cucumber and cream cheese sandwich ($5.75) is a classic
teatime embellishment as well as a great light lunch in summer. The
various panini sandwiches ($6.75) endow Brew City Tea with an eclectic,
beyond-the-British-Isles dimension.
